Long-term monitoring poses a problem routine EEG does not: the electrode has to survive days, not minutes. The patient sleeps, turns over, gets up, sometimes showers, and every movement works the junction between cup and scalp.

The LTM cups answer on three points. The profile is lower, so less exposed to rubbing against the pillow. The cable is reinforced where it leaves the cup, which is where a standard electrode breaks after a few dozen hours. And the cup shape retains paste better, which delays drying.

They are applied with collodion or with long-hold adhesive cream depending on the department protocol. With collodion, plan for the acetone-free remover at take-down.

Gold or Ag/AgCl, in 100, 150 or 250 cm. For a patient moving around the room, the 250 cm avoids limiting their movement to the length of the cable.
