Thermocouples and thermistors measure flow through the temperature difference between inhaled and exhaled air. They see apnoeas very well and hypopnoeas distinctly less well, which is why the AASM asks for both channels: thermal for apnoea, pressure cannula for hypopnoea. Reusable or single use, adult, child and neonate.
