Tensive adhesive conductive gel, 50 g tube

Tensive occupies a slot few products occupy. A classic EEG paste sticks hard but stays thick and visible in the hair. A pure conductive gel conducts perfectly but holds nothing. Tensive sits in between: tacky enough for a surface electrode to stay put, fluid enough to spread in a thin layer.

That is why it turns up mostly off the scalp: surface EMG electrodes, reference electrodes behind the ear, ECG electrodes on long montages, sensors on hairless skin. Anywhere an EEG paste would be excessive and a gel alone would not hold.

It is transparent, which is an underrated practical detail: you see the electrode and the skin through it, so you see an air bubble or a starting lift immediately.

Removal is with water, no solvent, no odour. On sensitive skin that is a real argument against adhesives that need a remover.

Parker Laboratories has made this gel for a long time in the same formulation. It is the house behind Aquasonic in ultrasound, and the manufacturing consistency is the same.
