On the recording side the same reasoning applies as for stimulation: the amplitude and duration of a sensory response depend on the spacing between active electrode and reference. With two separate electrodes, that spacing varies at every placement.
The recording bar fixes it at 40 mm. Sensory potentials become comparable between two studies on the same patient, and normative values become usable again.
That is especially true on the superficial nerves of the upper limb, where the response is a few microvolts and a change in geometry is enough to change the conclusion.
Two connectors, touchproof DIN 42802 and 5-pin DIN. Cable 150 cm.
