When a trace is polluted by 50 Hz, the reflex is to suspect the equipment, the mains or the quality of the active electrodes. In most cases the problem is the ground: badly placed, badly stuck, or simply too small.

This electrode carries a 35 x 45 mm surface, appreciably larger than the recording electrodes, and that is deliberate: the ground impedance has to be the lowest in the whole montage.

Two versions. The one with an integrated 150 cm DIN 42802 lead plugs in directly. The snap version uses a reusable lead, which works out cheaper when volume follows.

One placement rule deserves repeating: in nerve conduction the ground goes between the stimulation site and the recording site, not just anywhere on the limb. Badly placed, it drains nothing and lets the stimulus artefact through.
