- Description: The surface electrode that does not come off: it goes under the skin. For theatre, evoked potentials, and patients where nothing holds.

There are situations where a stuck-on electrode does not hold: a sweating patient, a surgical field, fragile skin, a recording of several hours under anaesthesia. The subdermal needle solves it by going under the skin instead of sticking onto it.

It does not enter the muscle. It is placed in subcutaneous tissue, almost parallel to the surface, and it stays there with no skin preparation at all: no abrasive gel, no degreasing, no paste.

It is the reference electrode of intraoperative monitoring and long-duration evoked potentials. It is also found in intensive care and paediatrics, in patients for whom skin preparation is neither possible nor desirable.

Three configurations. The 12 mm Minifils at 0.35 mm, the 18 mm version for thicker regions, and the hook version whose curved tip stops the needle backing out on its own when the patient is moved. All come with 8 cm of wire and a 1 mm plug.

A short 10 mm reference exists with a shrouded 0.7 mm pin, for montages where the plug must not be accessible.

Sterile, single use, invasive. They fall under the same disposal protocol as any needle.
