Snap adhesive electrodes do not carry a cable: they carry a stud. The cable is a separate, reusable part that outlives hundreds of electrodes.

That is a good division of labour. The electrode, which touches the skin, is disposable; the cable, which is expensive, stays. You do have to have the cables, and that is exactly what you discover is missing at the moment of hooking up a patient.

The colours are not decorative. On a ten or twenty channel montage, identifying a derivation by its colour saves real time at connection and above all at checking. Seven colours are available, black, red, green, yellow, white, brown and blue, with a grey for montages that need an eighth.

Five lengths, from 100 to 300 cm. The rule is simple: just the length needed. A cable that is too long makes a loop that trails, snags, and pulls on the electrode.

Packed in bags of five, or ten for the grey.
